Cultivator and Lawyer, Elle Woods (& Her spiritual dog Bruiser)!
Part 2 (soon)
#better drawn mdzs#mdzs#legally blonde#elle woods#In honour of Elle woods being canon to the PD-MDZS universe I *had* to make a legally blonde crossover#Elle Woods is a mythic figure. To me. Don't think about the lore of how she would exist in a Wuxia setting. This is for goofs.#Part 2 tomorrow ! Though its mostly silly doodles of the MDZS crew.#Lawyers and MDZS crossover *so* well. Legally blonde is a bit too specific of a story though. More on that in the next post.#Legally Blonde in general is a movie that means a lot to me (esp the musical). Your mileage may vary but I think it has a lot to say!#The feeling of being chronically underestimated and boxed into a role based on other people's perception of you really got to me!#(and the fact that the person who introduced me to MDZS turned out to...not be a good friend.#But I found a huge passion for something because of it! Yippee! I'm having more fun without you bringing me down!)#Drawing brusier made me realize I need to draw more dogs before dogust ends....

I think the reason chardee and macdennis work as complimenting ships is because chardee is the genderless pair and macdennis are the genderful pair. Chardee is just fucking around slipping in and out of gender depending on vibes but to macdennis gender is a performance and they are gonna win at it
#iasip#chardee#macdennis#does anyone else see the vision#Charlie doesn’t identify and Dee does gender for the bit not becuase she believes in it#but Mac and Dennis always have gender at a 10 with their styled hair and mesh shirts and thongs and role playing wildly varying gender roles

Many things were used to describe the mad hermit of Amaurot: a drunkard, degenerate, cynical, and even monstrous by those who stirred trouble for the newly appointed Azem. But nothing could prepare Emet-Selch for what he would see for himself, when offered a chance to meet the Sun's Shadow.
#ffxiv#ancients#endwalker spoilers#emet selch#lahabrea#azem#azem oc#apollo#dionysus#hemitheos dionysus because I like the thought that anyone with soul sight will look at him#and they get to be jumpscared by what i like to personally imagine as a winged embodiment of void or the abyss#I would say the moon but within the context of FFXIV the moon isnt actually a normal astral body#though like azem/apollo and the role of the sun#I write dionysus to be the astrological moon#a character who represents the subconscious and the self- who often sees and brings out the worst in those around him#how I basically describe as being around him will break you to your barest so you can remake yourself into something better than before#unfortunately for the convocation he is also an antithesis to their ways and their biggest critic- out of love- funnily enough#also dont mind the idea that magic (especially creation magic) is so deeply ingrained that the idea of manual work is surprising to people#dionysus has to constantly use his aether to suppress his power he's either doing things by hand or sleeping#ancient zenos does not get to escape the sleepy curse#weird vintner in the mountains found lounging off in the middle of his vineyard#emet expecting dion to be the problem out of the duo until he realizes that /apollo/ is the overprotective cryptic and chaotic weirdo#with the power to stop an active volcano#and dion is the chill and collected hardworking man who despite everything is more human than most#tbh this was mostly inspired by the scenes with thordan and varis and how they react to WoL and Zenos in those moments#for dion/zenos it is their being while on the flip side for WoL/Azem it is their choices and the expression of such choices

out of curiosity, would you consider yourself butch?
used to be a blonde underweight twink and now I'm a based jock still got the chanel bag and the sick albeit matured mind of a suckpig to prove it so I'm gonna let you decide whether you wanna call me that word just cuz I got a pussy and short hair. I promise you that there have been enough advancements made in the art of lesbian sexual dynamics in the past 50 years to broaden the vocabulary used to describe the plethora of types of masculine females.
#being called butch just reminds me of how much males have the freedom to navigate between male archetypes and how people pay attention to#the distinguishing features of these varying masculinities#but when a female is seen as masculine it all gets lumped under the “butch” category#her masculinity is seen as unnatural and therefore incapable of being considered genuine or taken at face value as it is with males.#its always brought into question instead of taken in consideration with the rest of the woman's life and experiences and her particularities#Hence... Butch is still being treated as though its a huge lesbian cultural phenomena instead of a specific niche thing#also i dont mean to invite the “you dont pass!!” anons again bc that idiot is missing my point entirely (which is that im truly not trying)#but the fact is that for the past 3 years i have found myself increasingly navigating the male social world#and discovering what it means to me as a female to have access to the ability to take my “masculinity” for granted... relax#forget about it#etc#i think thats entirely antithetical to the Butch thing which seems to rest on the tension of other peoples expectations of her#people broadly are more surprised to find out that im interested in women just as much as they're surprised that im a gym queen iykwim...#ive worked hard for this and now that ive gotten the Woman Social Role thing pretty much entirely out of the way i am living the dream#i think a large part of that is learning as a dyke to appropriate the language of gay men theres a reason their terminology had#staying power even when their scene was *literally* dying meanwhile all that seemed to survive from dyke spaces was butch n femme ??#its because theirs didnt necessitate the building and maintenance of a scene in order for the subculture to hold its head above water#their labels *largely* weren't predicated on their relationships to gender roles and its telling that for dykes it was#their labels rested on the need to simply show up anonymous n be able to easily flag whether they were looking to fuck or be fucked#alongside the set of circumstances under which they would be fucking or getting fucked or what have you#it all comes back to the restrictions of female social blah blah blah and i think the sooner we collectively set down what we see as our#responsibility as lesbians and as feminists to Be A Woman the sooner we can step outside of that#n start thinking clearly about our individual circumstances and the necessity of putting on your own oxygen mask first before helping others

Meet Barrett!
I’m a bit late to party about this guy since my friend, @regularassgrass has already been making drawings and stuff of him on their page. But life has been hectic with me getting a job and all other crazy stuff I’ve been trying to work on, including the blog rebrand. But he’s here now and hopefully I’ll be able to draw more of my anxious dire wolfbeastman and his adventures at RSA along with the world around him.
#my art#twst oc#rsa oc#Barrett Wolf#rsa Barrett Wolf#And yes#he is dating Neige cause Grass and I found it really cute. they’re dynamic is pretty fun in the rp we’ve had with these two#*intimdating wolf* with the *pure idol* is very fun#especially since Neige isn’t as naive or sheltered as the public assumes he is in our imagining of TWST#very much struggles with the same being put into the same roles and wanting to be seen as a varied actor beyond just hero/boys next door#that and he mostly takes the traits of the more unhinged Snow White from that one Lego Disney Princess movie#Barrett acts as a good balance for him being the giant softie#anyways uh yeah#my boy#hope to post about him more soon#along with other fandom stuff here again#drizzle doodles

Spicy take: I'm starting to think that the concept of "trickster" is about just as meaningful as the concept of Hero's Journey.
Sure, you can fit a lot of stories into it and some were written with that specific archetype in mind but also it conflates Joker, Odysseus, Br'er Rabit and Slavic folktales protagonists and I don't think these should belong in the same category.
Boundary crossing can be done for many reasons and in many ways. The need to lump all such characters into a single category says more about our over-reliance on rigid structures, the lack of play in our culture and a desperate need for something else.
#I'm sure there's a dissertation written about it somewhere#if not I'm considering getting another education#if I think about axes of classification#there's contact with the sacred or a lack of it (a lot of so-called modern 'tricksters' only deal with the mundane)#there's willingness or unwillingness to perform that role (some 'tricksters' are doomed by the narrative)#some only seek fun but I've seen characters with personal goals being called tricksters#and then they can fit into the culture itself differently#a cultural hero. a hero of an oppressed minority. a wise being symbolising acceptance of paradoxes. an evil spirit#why is the same word applied to all of them#simply because they aren't bound by so-called rational thinking and society's rules?#come on I want more nuance#when a person says they like trickster characters I don't know what they mean anymore#for me it mostly means they need a drink and someone accepting of their weirdness#meanwhile the exact traits of their favourite characters will vary wildly

Broke: Damian is bad at being a Robin because he's too violent
Woke: Damian is bad at being a Robin because he's afraid to hurt people
#obviously it's always funny to do the whole 'what do u have there Damian?' 'a knife!' 'nO' thing#and like make him a horrendous and silly evil gremlin who can and will pull a sword out in the middle of a parking lot to fight#but listen#he doesn't like the assassin background that much and once he learns about like The Normal World he's honestly in anguish about it#that's canon! that's the truth! (right?) (the whole thing with Goliath?? I'm not making it up right???)#i think he's just the kind of guy who loves his swords because they're what he knows and they're a strong connection to his family#but I think it's nice if he spends his time on field telling others what to do because everyone else learned to fight the OTHER way#(by defending and subduing opponents rather than maiming and killing)#so he prefers to take on a tactician general role despite being perfectly capable as a fighter because he knows what everyone else needs#to do to succeed in fights - especially when things are a bit of a mess - but is afraid to be too rough or scary or violent or Demon Son-is#(the things that make him feel like he doesn't belong in a happy civilian world - WHICH IS WHAT HE WANTS IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.)#in this essay I will explain why this allows for him to show awe and love for each of his siblings' fight styles by utilising all of them#and I just think Dami Babs and Tim could really work together as a detective/tactician comms team (with varying distances from the field)#because I think that'd be so fun: Tim is solving (mid-range) Babs is watching/providing supports (far) and Damian is commanding (close)#because the others are like The Bruisers (in their non-lethal way) who trust themselves to only hurt as much as is needed and are good at i#PLUS babs is SO stretched thin and literally the backbone of the bats so I just want a future where some of the kids become HER robins yk#anyway back to the point of the post:#it's kind of alluded to in 2017 supersons; EVERYONE in it comments on how Robin is JUST doing flips and shouting orders#and jon is like The Muscle and the one Doing Stuff - but Jon IS following orders 85% of the time and it works out well for them because#that dynamic of 'I'm not sure I can do it right by myself and I trust you to be my partner so we can do it right together' really#is my favourite like.. they're both filling these ideas of who they're meant to be and they just :( they just seek their own path together#oh no I lost the point again immediately and it became another WHY DO THEY SEPARATE THEM rant#I just think it's really fun to think of Damian as 'the most well trained fighter but ALSO the most likely to step back from a fight'#like yeah when we add in my thoughts on pit rage it adds some angst but that doesn't matter here in THIS post#have I even talked about my hc on pit rage/madness? I don't think I have LMAO (maybe another day)#anyway it's late I'm tired why do I always chat in the tags so much#my posts are literally all in the tags 2% post 98% tags smh#damian wayne#damian al ghul#damian al ghul wayne

@mouseymagus Yeah that’s semi accurate but not exact.
Most children will be taught riding, textile production, food preparation, agricultural labor practices, and other basic foundational skills regardless of assigned gender. Exceptions are more based in the status of their respective clans (ruling clans outsource their agricultural labor, so textile production takes preeminence there).
This cultural group can be broadly be stated as egalitarian in its conceptualization of gender, with men and women having roughly equal power in society but different expectations. The starkest division of gendered labor is that married women control the ‘domestic’ sphere and (mostly young) men participate in warrior culture, while societal roles for others are either more flexible or entirely context dependent.
Basically a mother is in charge of the land and household and directing the use of its resources, young men (16-40ish) are primarily tasked with defending it and gaining resources, while all others (children regardless of gender, unmarried women, and older men) play supportive roles wherever needed. These supportive roles may be more strictly defined by gender in some contexts than others, the Hill Tribes are not a monolithic cultural group, but the above statement is broadly applicable to all.
Warrior culture in the contemporary revolves primarily around cattle raiding and combat sports, with other applications being context dependent (some groups practice raiding trade routes, some northern groups in particular are in a defensive position against imperial Wardi territorial aggression along the seaway, and there are many conflicts and rivalries among clans and tribes for territory and resources).
Unmarried women ARE commonly involved in herding, and as such may be situationally involved in livestock raids (usually as defenders). There don't tend to be any general prescriptions Against women participating in this aspect of warrior culture, but it is simply Expected of young men as their societal role and correct performance of masculinity, whereas for an unmarried (or especially married) woman to take active part in livestock raids is a curiosity.
Men and women are both strongly expected to marry and produce heirs. Unmarried adult women often occupy a unique cultural space, as they can perform more flexible roles (are neither expected to engage in combat like young men or to control the domestic sphere like married women). Spinsters (there's probably a culturally specific word for it but I haven't come up with it yet) as such occupy a gendered space that is considered somewhat nonbinary, not a man but not fully considered a woman in role either. In some contexts this is mildly shameful and a failure to perform expected roles, in others it's a more neutral concept, or positively acknowledged as a unique role within society.
#Young men who can't/wont participate in warrior culture also kind of occupy a neutral gendered space but to a much less#defined degree than unmarried women#In that case it's almost ubiquitously understood as a failure to perform expected masculine roles#But there's a lot of variance in that too because expectations of participation/what Warrior Culture IS varies#like in some circumstances young men are only expected to participate in the ceremonial aspects while in others they are wholly#expected to participate in combat in whatever context it appears

#my post#this is so mean. why did i make this#but also....... the gun is in your hands now#i'll admit that it's my fault for putting the gun in your hand... however i've no say in what you choose to do with it#will you pull the trigger and accept whatever happens from now on? will you give yourself into the role forced upon you?#no one will know anything if you don't say anything. there will be no consequences or repercussions to this choice#but you will know. and you will need to live with that knowledge for the rest of your life#a gun not fired is like an itch not stratched#in the end i have no control over what you do... but free will is a funny thing#the brain is very susceptible to suggestion... everything we see and experience will remain with us in some way#if that's the case then how much control do we really have in our lives? how do we separate what we really want vs what we're told to want?#things like hunger... desire... they're all things the body asks for. but are they things that we truly want?#or are they merely a mechanism built into us for the sake of survival?#everything blends into everything. your past actions will inform your current actions. you're the only one who's ever lived your life#you're the only one who will ever live your life#little variables and experiences we all share... but the order varies greatly from person to person. everything is just a series of events#the way i see the world is different than the way you see it regardless of how similar they are#what choice will you make now? and how does it differ from the choice you would've made a week ago? a month? a year? does it differ at all?#does free will truly exist? i think it does... but not in the way most people think it exists#you and i... we might differ on that thought. or we might not.#regardless of whatever i've been rambling about right now... refusing to make a choice is still a choice you make. life is ironic like that#does one of them really have to go? that's for you to decide now#i've merely chosen to put the gun in your hand. to make you aware of the possibilities#so i hope you realize what power your choices have#dca fandom#daycare attendant#yeah sometimes i just say things that i think are deep but they're really not#i hope the choices i make have an effect on others. even if it's just one person...#if i can make even just one person think about something they wouldn't have normally thought about then isn't that a win?#life is a series of choices... ''it'd be great if you could see a figure of light by the time you die'' ♡

reminder that if you're not watching Crayon Shin-chan then you are living a hollow and empty life. this is not edited. this ripped straight from the movie (Movie 8: Jungle That Invites the Storm, highly recommend for fellow Masaaki Yuasa lovers)
if you need further convincing: these monkeys run an animation sweatshop
#i've made this disclaimer on another post but will again since i've seen a lot more of the movies now#the movies are VERY good and very enjoyable but unfortunately the first handful are bogged down by transphobic/homophobic/okama stereotypes#they kind of vary in their severity. Movie 5 i think is the biggest catalyst because it features the stereotyped characters the most#prominently. Movie 3 doesnt really have caricatures per se but saves a very backhanded reveal for the end#Movies 1 and 4 are a bit more tolerable if my memory is correct. Movie 2 i think is kind of comparable to Movie 5 with its caricatures#in that the characters have similar roles in both movies#i admittedly can't remember what caricatures there were in Movie 6 or 7. 7 i think barely had anything#RAMBLE RAMBLE BASICALLY: these jokes are within the first 7 movies or so 5 being the zenith then reducing down and down. by movie 8 it's sa#e#i give these disclaimers because these movies are all very enjoyable and i would not recommend them if i didnt think there wasnt any merit#o them. they are all very much worth watching. Movie 5 still has a lot of very enjoyable stuff in it (there's a showdown in a supermarket!!#but i just want to make sure that is clear and established since transparency is good to have and i dont want anyone's viewing experience t#be ruined because they weren't given the proper warning#if it's any consolation it's my understanding that even the directors hated doing the jokes#iirc Keiichi Hara really didn't like doing the jokes and i think had a talk with the mangaka Yoshito Usui and was like 'uh dude this is#gonna age horribly can we maybe not'#ironically Hara's first film is Movie 5. which is again the biggest offender#BUT! that is my spiel. my understanding is that it's contained to those 6 or 7 first movies and i think is strictly just a movie thing#so please do give these films a watch but just be mindful at the same time#if anyone needs recommendations my favorites have been movies 4 and 9 but i genuinely really enjoyed every one that i have seen#i've seen the first 11 and a half movies (need to finish 12) and movie 22. the worst i've felt about one is 'oh that was pretty good!'#each film has its own merit and is very very very much worth watching#22 was the first Shin-chan anything i watched and all my Shin-chan expert friends say 4 is a good introductory piece#in case that influences anything/makes it easier to break in#so. thus concludes my spiel#csc#vid

so many of ame's problems can be attributed to the fact that one of if not her only models for interacting with the world is grandmother wren. and grandmother wren was lovely and wise, but she earned her right to act the way she did through decades and decades of experience and trial, and ame is a teenage girl with a fraction of her knowledge even with her memories uncovered.
#wbn#worlds beyond number#suvi has a host of problems but she grew up with a clear variety of role models and peer with varying experience#ame knows other witches. she knows that collaboration and sharing power is important#but it is so funny to see her in social situations bc she models wren SO hard

I've watched Mouthwashing playthroughs and what's caught my eye is the whole "hero" title. To me, a hero is someone who protects the people with what little power they have, a do what is necessary to protect cause no else can or will. They can be flawed but overall good people at their core or willing to be good. (And if I can insert my bias,Ratchet and Clack, and Sir Daniel Fortesque are good examples of this).
But to Jimmy, a hero is someone who gets respected and rewarded, with all their sins forgotten. So what does Jimmy do when he's faced with his own actions? He makes a problem to "fix." But it doesn't go as planned because Jimmy was never good at planning in the first place. He most likely wanted Curly to do the work, while he plays background. But Curly is incapacitated, and Jimmy is forced into that role and he learns it's actually hard. Cause being a hero actually requires hard work. They help others cause someone needs to and most times want to. When danger arrives, they're in the frontline. As we see throughout the game, Jimmy fails all these things miserably.
A hero solves a problem that takes place, not "fix" one they've made. Problems can be solved, but they can't always be fixed or undone. Curly's own mantra proves to be his demise as he assumes anything can be "fixed". He may have fixed alot of problems Jimmy caused in the past, but what he did to Anya won't magically go away. Curly sees the "best" in Jimmy despite all his actions proving otherwise. Almost like a hero who still thinks their friend turned evil can change. A trope that's flipped and is realistically portrayed as a flaw, rather than a strength. And as everything unfolds, we see Jimmy get more manic, constantly saying he can fix it, he can fix it. He will fix it. He can still be a hero. He's trying to convince himself at this point cause everything around him proving otherwise. His hallucination with Curly, he still thinks they both (cause Jimmy thinks they're partners in crime and Curly is now unable to tell him otherwise), can "be heroes." That twisted party segment was probably his last ditch effort to play up this role he made in his head, but he even fails at that (which is the point) cause he didn't earn a proper one.
And the major question anyone would would ask at this point is: Hero of what? Who is Jimmy saving at this point?
Judgment Day with Polle was reality shattering the image Jimmy made up. He tried to have a whole hero speech as if he's psyching himself up to be the underdog who saves the day against the impossible. He use of Anya's quote as if she was some friend/lover or voice of reason he's followed this whole time will be his final push to victory and not someone he abused and ignored until it suited him. And its funny cause if anything, it's that final quote that pushes him to his end. Polle challenges him. "Why are you still concerned with Curly?" As Swansea said, Curly was Captain. Captains go down with their ships. Heroes sacrifice themselves for others. Curly was dead to rights. So who is Jimmy saving?
And only then does Jimmy realize he's not the hero. He can't be. Again Heroes aren't known for fixing problems they've made. If he goes in the cryopod, He'd have to take responsibility for what he's done. Ironically something he chastised Curly for. Having to take responsibility for what Jimmy's done, even though he knows it will all fall on him anyways. He wouldn't have crashed the ship if it didn't. He wouldn't have taken his own life either, cause then he can't control the narrative that way. You get no rewards for that. He'd be labeled a coward not a hero. Something he was running from the whole time. It wasn't until he was given the ultimatum: Be your twisted perception of a "Hero" and take responsibility or die coward, that he takes this route. The only thing he fixes in the end is the roles he assigned. He's not the hero, he's a coward and dies as such.
#mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#I've played a decent amount of videogames with characters of varying morality become the hero#and how that affects them#so to see Jimmy try that role and just fumble the whole thing is fascinating to watch
